Turkish giants Galatasaray are begging their star Radamel Falcao to leave the team, as he can no longer afford to pay his salary. In 2019, the Colombian arrived in the team, as 25,000 fans welcomed him at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
But after scoring 19 goals in the league in his two seasons in Turkey, the former Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Chelsea and Manchester United striker has been asked to look for a new team.
Galatasaray president Burak Elmaz said that due to the club's financial problems, the Turkish grandmaster could not afford to keep Falcao, as well as Sofian Feguli.
"I talked to Falcao and Feguli," he told reporters. "They helped us a lot, but with this salary structure we can't pay them. We want them to find a club."
Galatasaray was hit hard by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on ticket sales, and the club suffered another financial blow when it was eliminated from the Champions League by PSV Eindhoven.
