The EURO, whose official name is the European Football Championship, is held every four years. The goal of the tournament is to reach the best national team that performs under the auspices of UEFA. The first tournament was played back in 1960 under the name Cup of European Nations.
Henri Delaunay, Secretary General of the French Football Federation, was the first to put forward the idea of a pan-European football tournament. He did so in 1927, but at the time there was no football governing body to control Europe as a region and the idea struggled to gain support.
In 1954, representatives of the Italian, French and Belgian football federations gathered in Basel, Switzerland and created the Federation 1955 European football federations, and Delaunay is appointed the first general secretary.
He immediately began to seek support for ideas about a European tournament that would rival the World Cup, of which he was also one of the architects. Unfortunately, Henri Delaunay died in November 1955, never having seen his dream come true. His son, Pierre, initially took over as head of the organization on a temporary basis, before being appointed permanently the following year. He continued his father's vision and in 1958, three years after Delaunay's death, a tournament known as the UEFA European Nations Cup was founded. The European Championship, European Football Championship or UEFA European Football Championship as it is officially called is one of the biggest football tournaments played in Europe. The tournament is held every 4 years when the national teams meet in group games, semi-finals and finals. It is a competition with rich history and soul and you can make your EURO predictions today.
Since 1968, the tournament has changed its name and with each year the tournament has grown in size and faced some changes. From the beginning, the tournament was relatively small and since then it has grown into one of the biggest football tournaments in the world. Between 1996 and 2016, the tournament grew by 8 teams, and now the number of teams that compete is 24 and it is expected to grow in future to 32 teams. The options for betting are growing as well so make your EURO predictions this week.
One of the most popular long-term bets is betting on winner of the competition. You can already bet on the national team that you think will win Euro, but this requires analysis from previous championships. As with the winner of the entire Euro, you can bet on which team will win the different groups A – F. You can make your EURO predictions this weekend and enjoy in every phase of the competition until the end.
Please note that during the knockout phase of the European Championship, after 90 minutes of regular play, matches go into extra time if the score is tied.
If you decide to bet during the elimination phase of the competition on types such as 1X2, total number of goals, and Asian Handicap, please note that the bets will be related to the result that will stand at the end of the regular part of the match. Overtime and penalties are usually not counted, unless otherwise specified by the bookmaker. Make your analyses carefully, and pick you EURO predictions this Saturday.
Good preparation is very important when you are preparing to make a prediction on EURO. In addition to not having as many valuable betting opportunities because each team plays a small number of matches, it is difficult to determine what form a team is going into the tournament especially because each team has a little time to prepare, and team compositions are announced immediately before the start of the tournament.
