Defenders Virgil Van Dyke and Joe Gomez from Liverpool will not be ready for the finals of the European Football Championship in the summer, according to Merseyside manager Jurgen Klopp.
Dutch national Van Dyke is recovering from knee surgery in October, and Gomez is also being treated after knee surgery for an injury he suffered at the England national team camp in November.
Klopp hopes the two will be on the line for the start of preparations for next season, but is not optimistic about the possibility of them participating in the continental championship from June 11 to July 11.
"It's not my decision, but with the information I have at the moment, I don't think they will be ready for the European Championships. Their injuries were very serious. I hope they will be on the line for the pre-season training. "Forward to recovery, because he is already running, but it will still be very difficult," said Klopp.
