Manchester United have officially announced the appointment of Ralph Rangnik as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to the requirements for a work visa.
After this period, Rangnik and the club agreed that he would continue to work as a consultant for another two years.
Manchester United sporting director John Murtow commented: "Ralph is one of the most respected coaches and innovators in European football. He was our number one candidate for interim manager, reflecting the invaluable leadership and technical skills he will bring from almost four decades of management and coaching experience. ”
"Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with him next season, and then he will be a consultant for another two years," added Murtow.
"I am excited to join Manchester United and I am focused on making this season a success for the club. The team is full of talent and has a great balance between youth and experience. All my efforts over the next six months will be to help these players reach their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team. In addition, I look forward to supporting the club's long-term goals on a consulting basis, "said Rangnik.
Michael Carrick will remain at the helm of the first team until Ralph's work visa is issued.
Manchester United expressed its gratitude to Lokomotiv Moscow for their cooperation in the negotiations for Ralph Rangnik.
