Attracting Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea is almost complete. The Belgian finished the first part of his medical examinations at Stamford Bridge. He was examined at Columbus Hospital in Milan before flying to London to sign with the Champions League winner. Lukaku was photographed leaving the hospital, wearing a Chelsea T-shirt.
Lukaku will return to the team from Stamford Bridge seven years after leaving for Everton, which paid about 35 million euros for him. Three years later, Jose Mourinho's Manchester United attracted the Belgian striker for 83 million. In 2019, he moved to Inter for 80 million euros. With the Nerazzurri shirt, he won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte last season.
Still 28, Lukaku will earn nearly 220,000 pounds a week. This will be the highest salary Chelsea has ever paid to any of its players. The amount is even ahead of Eden Hazard's reward. By attracting Lukaku, Chelsea wants to be competitive this season and fight to win new trophies.
