Leicester vs Newcastle Prediction and Analysis
This match looks like one of the most equal that will be played in the Christmas Round of the English Premier League.
Each of the opponents enters the match in good form.
The Foxes are on a 4-match winning streak in their previous 4 official matches. Having lost just once in their last 9.
And this loss was as minimal as possible – 0-1 against the champion Manchester City.
The Magpies are on a unique streak of 14 consecutive matches without a loss, with 8 wins in the last 9 matches in all competitions.
Newcastle are favorites today due to the fact that they are higher in the table than Leicester.
But in my opinion the two teams are evenly matched before this clash and so my main prediction is for an 'X'.
But something else struck me. And that's why I decided to make my bet a little more complicated for this draw to be goalless.
Leicester's previous 9 matches have been WITHOUT a goal/goal. As in them, they allowed only 1 goal - from Man City.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 8 official meetings.
If today the teams show a stable game in defense, then no wonder the two zeroes remain on the scoreboard until the final whistle.
Let's see!
Aston Villa - Liverpool prediction
Leicester - statistics and info
Things are looking a little better for Leicester City right now than they were two months into the season.
The Foxes were at the bottom of the standings. But 4 wins to nil in their last 5 games has lifted them to 13th place in the standings.
Which suggests that they have finally addressed the defensive issues they had throughout the campaign.
Because this season they have conceded 25 goals in 15 rounds and have lost on 8 occasions.
Now Leicester have all the prerequisites to build on their performance from before the international break.
And why not fight for the euro quota this year as well.
Their chances increase with the return of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison from the World Cup without injury problems.
The Foxes made easy work of their visit to MK Dons in the League Cup Round of 16 a few days ago, winning with a classic 3-0 win.
Newcastle - statistics and info
Newcastle United fans dare to dream that this season their favorites will be involved in the battle for the title in England.
They certainly have a right to claim it based on their performances in the first 15 games as they are currently third.
A win on Boxing Day could even lift them up to second in the table.
No team in the Premier League has lost fewer games than the Magpies this season (just one defeat).
Newcastle are in excellent form as they have won each of their previous 5 league games.
This only reinforces the point that they are unlikely to be affected by the World Cup.
As many of their top stars missed out on national selections for the tournament.
During the break, Eddie Howe's men extended their winning streak with another 2 wins to nil in friendlies.
And a few days ago, they also advanced in the League Cup tournament after a 1-0 success over another elite team – Bournemouth.
