World champions France have no plans to boycott the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This was stated by the President of the French Football Federation Noel Le Grey to AFP.
"Qatar was chosen as the host a long time ago by responsible people. We will not question the organization a year before the championship. France will play at the World Cup in Qatar if it qualifies," said Le Gre.
The British Guardian newspaper recently reported that more than 6,500 workers from five Asian countries have died in stadium construction since 2010. For this reason, representatives of clubs in Norway demanded that the national team boycott the championship.
Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Thani, Qatar's consul in Dubai, said the Guardian's publication was misleading, as millions of foreign workers had taken part in building the infrastructure over the past decade and the death toll was expected.
