The director of the German Football Union, Oliver Birhoff, expects the European Championship to be held as planned this summer - in 12 cities across the continent. The former national added in an interview with "Sport Bild" that fans are unlikely to be allowed in the stands.
"I have no doubt at all that the tournament will go according to plan, but there will hardly be any fans. As far as I know, so far there has been no question of reducing the hosts and holding the European Championship in only one country," Birhoff said.
UEFA has repeatedly announced in recent months that it is considering various fire options, but wants the European Championship to be held in 12 cities. The final decision on the fans will be made in April.
