When will the European Championship take place?

According to the program, the tournament should be held from June 11 to July 11 this year. Euro 2020 was originally scheduled to be played last year, but was postponed by 12 months. The organizers changed the dates, but left the official name, which appears in all documents and medals of the tournament - Euro 2020

Where will the matches be played?

Euro 2020 will be held in 12 cities across Europe - St. Petersburg (Russia), Copenhagen (Denmark), Rome (Italy), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bucharest (Romania), Amsterdam (Netherlands), London and Glasgow (UK) , Bilbao (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), Munich (Germany), Budapest (Hungary).

This is the first tournament to take place in this format. Previously, the European Championship was held in one or a maximum of two countries. The current format was promoted by Michel Platini, and the European Championship was conceived as a football festival across Europe on the occasion of UEFA's 60th anniversary.

At the final tournament of Euro 2020, 24 teams qualified, which are divided into 6 groups of 4 teams. The teams ranked first and second in the groups, as well as the top four third place in the 1/8 finals. Then the tournament continues according to the classic elimination scheme.

What is the prize pool for Euro 2020?

The total prize fund for Euro 2020 will be 370 million euros. Each of the 24 national teams that will participate in the tournament is guaranteed to receive 9.25 million euros. Each victory in the group stage is worth 1.5 million euros, for a draw - 750 thousand euros.

In addition, each team that reaches the playoffs will receive 2 million euros. To reach the quarterfinals - 3.25 million euros. To reach the semifinals - 5 million euros. The team that loses in the final will receive 7 million. The champion - 10 million.

If the European champion wins all the matches in his group, he can win a maximum of 34 million euros.

According to the Euro 2020 calendar, the matches of each group will be held in two cities. Group A teams will play in Rome and Baku, Group B in St. Petersburg and Copenhagen, Group C in Bucharest and Amsterdam, Group D in London and Glasgow, Group E in Bilbao and Dublin, Group F in Munich and Budapest. Thus, each city will host three matches of the group stage.

The matches of the 1/8 finals will be held in Amsterdam, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin and Glasgow.

The quarterfinals will be played in Baku, Munich, Rome and St. Petersburg.

The semi-finals and final will take place in London at Wembley Stadium.

Will spectators be allowed to attend Euro 2020 matches?

All issues with the sale of tickets for the European Football Championship will be resolved no earlier than mid-April, after a decision is made to admit spectators to the stands. At the same time, UEFA notes that all tickets that have already been purchased remain valid.
