Chinese television will not broadcast English Premier League matches this week due to planned actions by clubs in support of Ukraine following the invasion of Russian territory by Russian troops, the BBC reported on Friday.
China is considered a close political ally of Russia, which calls its military action in Ukraine a "special operation."
The Premier League said on Wednesday that the teams will show their support for Ukraine during the matches from March 5 to 7, with all 20 team captains wearing special ribbons in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
Fans will also be encouraged to join the players, managers, club staff and referees of the matches, showing solidarity with the Ukrainian people before and during each match this week.
The screens of the stadiums will again glow in yellow and blue, which are the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
