Borussia Dortmund - Augsburg prediction
Borussia Dortmund can restart the season with a comfortable win.
The yellow and black lost two consecutive games before the World Cup break.
But those defeats were over two months ago, so they won't have any effect here.
Having had plenty of time to rest and recover after Qatar, Dortmund's players should be refreshed.
However, I must say that Borussia played 7 controls during the break, winning 5 of them .
Including 6-0 in the last friendly match over the elite Swiss Basel.
In front of the large and passionate audience at Signal Iduna Park, we should expect Terzic's men to start with a bang.
And from the start of the match against the Augsburg team. Which will probably rarely cross the center.
The results of Dortmund's last two Bundesliga home games are telling enough:
- 5-0 against Stuttgart
- 3-0 against Bochum
Regarding the goals - I think 4 goals is the least we can predict today.
Because in the previous 4 home games of Borussia against Augsburg (all wins), there were a total of 20 goals.

Borussia Dortmund - statistics and info
Borussia Dortmund have a lot of work to do.
Some Bundesliga teams may have enjoyed the mid-season break.
But BVB are one of the teams who were probably keen to get back into action as soon as possible.
It's just because of the way the campaign is going for them so far.
Dortmund are sixth in the standings, a full 10 points behind Bayern Munich at the top.
Winning the Bundesliga title hasn't been a very realistic goal for the Yellow and Black lately.
The financial disparity between them and Bayern is significant.
And the Bavarians have dominated Germany for the past decade, winning 10 titles in a row.
However, Dortmund did not expect to be so far behind Bayern at this stage of the season.
Especially since the Bavarians themselves have not been flawless, dropping points in a third of their 15 games so far.
The disappointment is not that the title is gone. And that Borussia has to fight even to finish in the top 4.
German football pundits and top online sportsbooks still believe that Dortmund will qualify for the Champions League relatively comfortably.
And yes, they are indeed only two points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of this round.
BVB can definitely go for it and reach their goal with strong form in the next few weeks.
Their next three games are against teams currently in the bottom half of the table.
And coach Edin Terzic will no doubt aim for the maximum 9 points in these matches.
One or two more mistakes, however, would reinforce the feeling that a top-four finish is by no means guaranteed for Borussia Dortmund this season.
Augsburg - statistics and info
Augsburg finished 14th last season.
And that is the position in the table they occupy before the 2022/23 campaign restarts this weekend.
There were fears of relegation from VVK Arena fans at the start of the season.
And they have not gone because of the poor form immediately before the World Cup.
The hosts have lost four of their first five matches, leaving Enrico Maassen's side in a precarious position.
They then won three games in a row (including against Bayern) to climb to mid-table.
But 7 rounds (0-3-4) without a win before the break means Augsburg are looking closely at the danger zone again.
Ahead of that tough trip to Signal Iduna Park, they are just a point clear of a relegation play-off spot.
As well as two above the automatic places.
Only the latter Bochum and Schalke have scored fewer goals than Augsburg's players.
Who also have the sixth-worst overall defensive record in the division.
The club could have fired Maassen during the winter break. But they gave him a vote of confidence instead.
But if his team continues to underperform and slip into the danger zone, the coach could be in trouble.
