Asian Handicap Betting Tips & Strategy

Asian Handicap Betting

Asian Handicap Betting

Although it comes from the Far East Asian handicap betting is a very popular type of betting worldwide. It gives you more privilege and better odds when placing bets. Also, it is an alternative to the standard method of betting that you may be used to which is known as a three-way result betting.

As previously mentioned, this method of betting is the most popular form in Asia, where it is also known as Hang Cheng. To be precise, –handicap– means that a team receives a virtual head start, effectively leading the game by differing amount or amounts before it actually kicks off. If you bet on a team with the handicap and they manage to win the match (with head start included), then you will win the bet. However, in some cases, there is a – split handicap– in which a team is given two virtual head starts. You get a maximum return on your stake if they manage to overcome both of these. However, if they overcome only one of these, your profit is either halved or half your stake is returned, depending on the odds.

Single handicap

  • This appears as (0), (+0.5 / -0.5), (+1.0 / -1.0), (+1.5 / -1.50), (+2.0 / -2.0), etc.
As you can see above, the handicap given to each team can be whole or half numbers.

  • Where half number is presented (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, etc.), a draw is impossible.
For example, Juventus (-0.5) vs Lazio (+0.5). This means that you will either win or lose the bet; no scenario for stakes to be refunded will occur.

  • Where a whole number is presented (0, 1, 2, 3, etc.), the draw is possible.
For example, Real Madrid (-1) vs Espanyol (+1): if score the full-time score is 1-0 and you bet on the Espanyol +1, your stake will be refunded.

Split or double handicap

  • This appears as (+0.25 / -0.25) or (+0.75 / -0.75) mainly.
The easiest way to understand split handicap is to imagine you are having two separate bets with your stake being split equally between the 2 element handicaps.

  • (+0.25 / -0.25) is the same as 2 bets of (+0,) and (+0.5 / -0.5):
Half your stake will go on at the 0 handicap and a half at the 0.5 handicap.

  • It is important to distinguish that you do not physically place the two separate bets at the two different handicaps. The bookmaker’s betting system automatically does this whenever you bet on a split handicap.

Asian totals – Goal predictions

In this type of betting, you can also predict the total number of goals in a football match. For example, if you bet under 2.5 on a certain football match, you will win if it finishes with a maximum of 2 goals or less that is 0-0,1-0 and so on. Betting over 2.5 will mean that you win when the match finishes with 3 goals or more that is 2-1, 3-0 and so on. The widely accepted and probably the most profitable is betting on the 2.5 range. An average match always has 2 or 3 goals scored, so it’s best to bet under 2.5 or over 2.5.

Conclusion

For a novice, the Asian handicap betting may seem confusing with too many numbers. Yet, it is a great concept that could also preserve the stake. After you learn how to make accurate football prediction, it is best that you use Asian odds when placing a bet. In this way, you get a better chance of winning as Asian handicap has reduced the match to two possible outcomes.
